Nathaniel is a truly wonderful composer. When it came to do music for my short film,
Nathaniel was able to take my direction and ideas and mix them with his
own creativity to create perfect mood music for all the scenes in my
film. He was able to capture the spirit of the film on the first try and
the thought of asking for changes never crossed my mind. Nathaniel is
the first person I come to when music for my films are concerned, my
only regret being that I don't have enough work for him.

Nathaniel,
I
wanted to say "Thank You" for the work you have done on
Walking Shadows and A Fathers Secret. You have surpassed what I
have imagined. What you have given me has made my imagination and
creativity go a step farther. I will and have recommended you to other
productions. Your ability to see the direction and know where to
go with it surpasses people I have worked with. You make music
composition and concept art headache-free. Fewer headaches for any
director is a godsend.
Thanks again,
-- Dusty Clark, Director of
Walking Shadows, Caregiver
and In a Blink

As a student filmmaker,
I am under constant deadlines, both personal and professional.
When my video art project, Green, needed an extra audio kick
and quick, I called on Nathaniel. Within one week, he
produced a top-quality score that pushed the video to a whole new
level. Nathaniel saved the day and saved the project from mediocrity.

Nathaniel
Scott is first and foremost a fan of movies and soundtracks, like
myself. And, trust me, that kind of thing matters when
collaborating on a project!
Working
with Nathaniel was a wonderful experience on RECONCILED THROUGH THE
CHRIST. We had a lot of fun listening to our favorite scores,
trading favorite Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams cuts and just having
a blast in general. With this particular movie, we have a long,
eight month period where the score was produced by Nathaniel and being
that it was his first "composing for a movie" job, I wanted to
make sure he had ample time to do the best he could....
Working
directly from the script, Nathaniel exceeded my wildest expectations
with the RECONCILED THROUGH THE CHRIST score. It captured the tone
of the movie and the nuances of each and every character, from the
haunting piano tunes of reflection to the full-on action sequences,
which are every bit as good as what some of Hollywood's best composers
offer today! When we began laying down the music to the final cut,
I could truly hear what the soul of the movie would be...
suddenly all the dramatic elements laid themselves out in spectacular
new ways....
And
all this, Nathaniel delivered on his first score! I was literally
blown away by Nathaniel's talent and professionalism. In
post-production, we were under the gun for an additional cut, and
Nathaniel came through with no problem (even when we were finally under
the pressure of time)....
I
can't say enough good things about collaborating with Nathaniel Scott on
the RECONCILED THROUGH THE CHRIST score. Needless to say,
Nathaniel has already gone on to many new motion picture scoring jobs
since completing RECONCILED, and I would highly recommend him for every
kind of genre. Like I said, he is a movie fan at heart, and
there's no telling what he will come up with in the future for any given
project....
At
the end of the day, though, this recommendation is probably
unnecessary. After all, one listen to the RECONCILED score tells
it all... Nathaniel's work (and the work of a creative genius, I
might add!) speaks for itself. Your soul will simply ... soar!

Nathaniel is an
exceptional talent, and a very gifted artist who actually started
working with me via the storyboards for Shadows Light....
As a director, I
believe the soundtrack score is something extremely important to the
proper delivery of a film.... I also love the multi-thematic scores
(such as those from
Howard
Shore
in Lord of the Rings), and I can assure you that the soundtrack for
Shadows Light is...in this vein and then some. The character themes ...
are fantastic, as well as the main theme itself. Nathaniel really has
captured the essences of the various characters, and this is going to
make the score really enrich the overall film.
Nathaniel
and I work very well together and are truly on the same page, which I
believe is essential for a director-composer friendship that will result
in a powerful film... It is also very enjoyable to work with Nathaniel,
as he has exceptional enthusiasm for this project and his craft. His
work will speak for itself...

*****!
While I have not watched this
movie myself, I am very impressed with this soundtrack. The
instruments, chorus and percussion go along hand in hand and sound
great. You can really feel the emotion and power in all of the
songs making it making it a very enjoyable listening experience that I
highly recommend.

***** Spectacular Score!
As a collector of
motion picture soundtracks, big and small, I was very happy with this
score. Full of emotion, energy, and passion, it's definitely an
emotional music journey that will pull you into its world and it's
worthy of any collection in terms of scope and passion from the artist.
It's definitely an emotional journey that makes you feel a wide range of
emotions. Very moving is the orchestration of the "I Love To Tell The
Story" hymn. This disc sees lots of play in my monthly rotation along
with some of my other fave composers like Jerry Goldsmith and Brian
Tyler. I anxiously await Mr. Scott's next soundtrack release.

Review:
Reconciled Through the Christ/The Chronicles of Narnia demos **

NATHANIEL SCOTT
Promo
19 tracks - 42:11 |
This disc is produced by the composer and is essentially a
demonstration opportunity. The score portion of the album is from
Reconciled, a direct-to video production directed by Tim Ritter, who has
worked on many similar projects. Depending on your perspective, these are “B
pictures” or worse. Into this breach comes Nathaniel Scott, utilizing studio
technology to create a score brimming with a number of interesting thematic
ideas spread over the 15 brief tracks provided here. One must imagine the
score as if it were fully orchestral in order to appreciate what Scott has
accomplished here. It’s only the electronically reproduced sounds that belie
the film’s budget. The music is otherwise competent and professionally done.
The style comes closest to the sound of a Sci-Fi channel movie of the week.
The music is engaging and in keeping with much of what is heard
in film these days. As Scott's first score out of the box, this is a good
beginning, miles ahead of many other first starts. The music is a good
example of what you can do using high end equipment and a good video
library.
Scott has a well-placed sense of his talents, further evident in
his drafting of four themes to send off as demos to the producers of The
Chronicles of Narnia. Those curious to compare his efforts with those of
Gregson-Williams will want to check this disc out as a kind of bonus.
Or, you can download any of the tracks at the composer’s website:
http://www.nathanielscott.com/. You can also hear other scores that he
is working on. The copy received for review had audible whirring and skipped
a couple of times, but otherwise played fine. -- Steven A. Kennedy
